Meet Dan “Boots” Longenette
Host / Founder
For more than 35 years, Dan “Boots” Longenette has been answering the toughest questions in the car world. Listeners already know him as the no-nonsense host of Auto Smarts Radio—the guy who can explain a complex repair, break down the latest industry news, or swap stories with icons like Chip Foose, Jay Leno, and more without missing a beat.
Boots’ expertise goes beyond the microphone. He’s lived the business from the inside out—sales, service, racing, broadcasting—and that experience shapes the straight, practical advice his audience trusts week after week.
When you tune in or send a question, you’re not just getting theories—you’re getting decades of real-world auto knowledge delivered with the same passion he brings to the studio, the racetrack, and every Cruise & Ride car show across Ohio.
Meet Scott Mcclure
Co-Host
Scott McClure is the G.M. and owner of Westerville Automotive, where he’s been serving Central Ohio drivers since 1985. With more than 42 years of experience as a technician and service manager, Scott has built a reputation for integrity, expertise, and a true passion for cars.
After graduating from the Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1983—with perfect attendance—Scott went on to earn and maintain ASE Master Certification for over 30 years. He has served on national and local advisory councils for Jasper Engines & Transmissions and NAPA Auto Parts, reflecting his leadership in the automotive industry.
Beyond the shop, Scott is a founding member of the Rod Masters Car Club in Knox County and has helped raise thousands for local charities, including Honor Flight Columbus and Hospice of Knox County.
In May 2017, Scott joined Auto Smarts Radio as an advertiser and, by January 2023, became the show’s co-host alongside Dan “Boots” Longenette. Like Boots, Scott has a soft spot for classic cars—his pride and joy is the ’57 Chevy he’s owned since 1979, his very first car.
